Artist: Artstone
Material: Cast stone
Size: 37cm x 34 cm
This was sculpted from a photo of an ancient Greek marble carving of the Three Graces - Aglaea, and Euphrosyne, and Thaleia - Homer claimed they were part of the retinue of Aphrodite. The Charities or Graces were the goddesses of charm, beauty, nature, human creativity and fertility. They were great lovers of beauty and gave humans talents in the arts. We certainly found the form and beauty inspiring and decided to create our own version. Weather proof and frost proof this was made first in clay, then cast them in plaster and sanded the surface to make them as smooth and perfect as possible. It is then cast into Cotswold stone.
