This is the home and workplace of Christine Baxter, sculptor. Who trained at Camberwell School of Art in London. Where she met Alex Brown, who was on the Painting Degree course. They have been together ever since. Her studios are arranged around a large courtyard, One where work is cast, one where she makes new work and pieces are individually patinated and finished, there is also a welding room and a kiln room. Outside the kiln room is our ceramic Raku area. Her work is displayed in the courtyard with pot plants and planting displays the work of other sculptors. The far end of the courtyard is given over to a lily pond, a Japanese inspired garden and Alex's collection of Bonsai miniature gardens, for which he made the pots.
The large garden at the front of the house, is laid to lawn and informal borders, into which sculptures on plinths and stands are interspersed. All this looks out towards mature trees and a large fish pond. There is a 50 year old mulberry tree, a very old and rare potato pear, all over looked by a couple of majestic pines.
There are benches dotted about for visitors to sit and relax, as well as tables and chairs for tea and cake.
