Christine Baxter has been a full-time professional sculptor since graduating from Camberwell School of Art in the 80’s. As a figurative sculptor, she works predominantly in clay, but also directly into plaster and wax. She then casts her work into bronze, bronze resin, iron resin and stone. 
 
Christine is classically trained, having studied under Epstein’s assistant Mike Gillespie. She is now based in her own purpose-built studio at Court Robert Arts. Christine’s studio is open to the public daily and welcomes visitors throughout the year. When Christine is not in her studio, she can be found tutoring her weekly Tuesday Creative Clay Class here, or exhibiting her work at sculpture garden shows around the country. She often exhibits with the Oxford Sculpture Group, Surrey Sculpture Society, and her work has recently been in several shows including; the Elemental Sculpture Garden, Sculpture at Kiftsgate, the royal chelsea flower show and Godinton House. 
 
‘Many of my family members have been artists; wrought iron gate makers, dress designers, wood carvers, sculptors, landscapes designers, photographers and cooks. Making things is in my genes, but I have also benefited from growing up in an art nurturing environment. My earliest memories are of drawing and sculpting with my grandfather. 
I love natural forms- really looking and understanding the structure, the volume, the weight and balance. It gives you the tools to play with body language that communicates with the viewer; a smaller twist in a pose, an emphasis of a muscle, a strain of the body - a language that transcends time and culture. alex studied fine art-painting at camberwell school of art in the 1980's and has been a professional exhibiting artist and tutor since. alex has work in private and public collections in the uk and worldwide, including pieces in the london transport museum, art for hospitals and the John Moores University recently acquisted several of his paintings. 

alex is a resident artist and tutor at court robert arts, with his studios open to the public daily. PEOPLE FAMILIAR WITH ALEX'S WORK WILL KNOW HE IS KNOWN FOR HIS LOVE OF COLOUR AND NATURAL OBSERVATION, WHETHER IT'S LANDSCAPE, STILL LIFE, FIGURATIVE OR ABSTRACT PAINTING. 

alex works predominently in oil paint, however, is efficient and creative in his of watercolour, charcoal and acrylic. He has also recently started experimented in clay.
