what a week! we finished the art gallery in time for our open day, had a record of 7 students attend our creative clay class and our 'portrait in oils workshop' on saturday 18th august is officially fully booked! and we're feeling pretty pleased.
we're still receiving enquiries about the portrait class so alex has decided to run exactly the same class the following saturday, 25th august. if this is something you're interested in follow the link! https://courtrobert.weebly.com/store/p366/Portrait_in_oils_workshop.html

as you may have seen advertised, we had an open day today! we've had several people join us for it, and christine's cake proved very popular. everybody enjoyed walking around the sculpture garden and art gallery.
we're now excited for the other open days we have planned, with even more cake! join us to see our teaching space, speak to alex and christine about our art courses, and maybe even stroll around our sculpture garden. a few weeks ago we posted a job advert for a graduate mould-makin/casting assistant, and the role has now been filled! isobel started with us last friday, and she's absolutely loving being mentored by christine. she's already learnt how to make several different sculptures, including christine's popular hares. today, isobel took christine's creative clay class as she has her own ceramics business. the students are loving learning how to make coil pots correctly. check out the short video below to see how it's done! Saturday saw seven students attend alex's turner watercolour workshop. after all arriving promtply, it was straight into alex's talk and demonstration. they even watched a short clip from the film 'turner', starring timothy spall.
alex guided students through every step, from the initial first wash of colour, to applying the subtle definition of buildings in the venice skyline. the day was then filled with colour, determination and laughter. every student thoroughly enjoyed their day, most have now booked onto alex's other courses in the coming weeks! make sure you check our class schedule to see if anything takes your fancy. see the photo's below from the fun and inspirational day. Yesterday saw us begin the fun (yet huge) task of rearranging the studio spaces... to make room for the court robert arts art gallery! even pinky and sami wanted to join in.
so far, we've mopped (thanks liam), swept, hoovered and moved a lot of tables. Christine's ceramics storage has moved into the kiln room, alex's teaching area has moved downstairs, and we have the beginnings of the art gallery upstairs. We're not finished yet, but sign up to our newsletter to find out when we are and when the official opening is. Christine didn't just deliver to one sculpture show yesterday, she delivered to two! She travelled all the way to haywards heath and ashford to borde hill gardens and godinton house.
it was a long day, setting off around 6:30am and not getting back to court robert arts 12 hours later! the sculptures were all delivered in one piece (phew!) and look stunning in the picturesque gardens of borde hill and the stunning surroundings of godinton house. be sure to check out the shows before they finish! It only feels like yesterday that our spring/summer term painting and drawing classes finished, where has the time gone? As we race towards the autumn and colder days, (who else is loving the heatwave?) court robert arts is preparing the tuition studios for new students. Although the new term officially starts on wednesday 19th august, alex is holding two saturday workshops in the coming weeks; turner watercolour workshop (21.07.18) and portrait in oils workshop (18.08.18) we're also moving all the teaching space downstairs, so that court robert arts will have it's own art gallery! the art gallery will officially open its doors in september, however it will be open for your open days; Sat. 28th july, fri 3rd august, sat 11th august and fri 17th august. join painter alex brown and sculptor christine baxter for tea, coffee and homemade cake! they'll also be showing you their studios and talking about their work and inspiration. to be the first to know about future events, art classes and open days, sign up to our newsletter! we'll also be sending exclusive art gallery opening night information to subscribers! who said the summer holiday's are meant to be relaxing? court robert arts has had a busy few weeks recently, with even more planned in the weeks ahead.
although the sculpture garden and artist studios are open daily to the public, we have a few special days planned. on saturday 28th july, friday 3rd august, saturday 11th august and friday 17th august, the gardens will be open, christine and alex will available to talk about their artwork and court robert arts. there'll also be tea, coffee and cake available! whether you're enthusiastic about art, or like to stroll around gardens, perhaps you just want to talk to new people, court robert arts will happily welcome you. make sure to follow us on instagram, twitter and like us on facebook to keep up to date on everything court robert arts is doing. remember to also sign up to our newsletter to be the first to know all the exciting new developments.
